KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Clay County Health Department confirmed there has been a COVID-19 outbreak at a care center in the county.
The Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center has had 53 residents and staff members test positive.
Two people have died from the virus, but health department officials did not specify whether the deaths were staff or patients.
The facility said in an emailed statement that it is working with the county health department and other agencies to take appropriate steps:
Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center has unfortunately had a recent outbreak of the COVID 19 virus which involves both residents and staff. We are currently working with the CDC, Department of Health and Senior Services, and Clay County Health Department to ensure that all is being done appropriately.
