KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Health officials with the Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health Department said Friday that a protester at a rally May 31 in Lawrence has tested positive for COVID-19.
The male protester's positive result was confirmed Friday after a sample was taken Thursday.
The department is asking attendees of the protest, which took place in downtown Lawrence, to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms.
Health officials said the protester admitted he was not wearing a mask during the protest.
“Similar to what we would ask anyone who goes out in public right now, we are asking anyone who attended the recent protest to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and isolate if they become sick as well as call their health care provider for next steps,” Informatics Director Sonia Jordan said Friday in a release.
Anyone with health-related concerns may call the Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health coronavirus hotline at 785-856-4343.
