KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A soldier at Fort Leonard Wood has tested positive for COVID-19.
The soldier is the first confirmed case at the installation, according to a news release.
“The soldier had recently traveled to New York and Florida,” the release stated, “and upon returning to Fort Leonard Wood was immediately screened at Harper In-Processing and placed in isolation. The soldier remains in isolation on the installation under medical care in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines.”
Officials are in the process of “tracing and contacting” people that the individual might have been in contact with in the past two weeks.
Additionally, “military health professionals” are screening service members, Department of Defense civilians and family members “who have traveled outside of the state of Missouri during the past two weeks,” according to the release.
