KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On Thursday, the United Inner City Services is teaming up with St. James Catholic Church, De La Salle Education Center, Heart to Heart International and the University of Kansas Medical Center to provide free COVID-19 testing.

Testing is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the De La Salle Education Center, located at 3737 Troost Ave. in Kansas City, Missouri.

Online registration is encouraged, however walk-ins are welcome.

The goal is to reach anyone who is interested in getting tested, especially those who have protested for change for the past several weeks and been exposed to large crowds.

"We have a lot of young people who would've been out protesting and potentially protesting and we had staff that were out protesting," De La Salle Executive Director, Sean Stalling said. "So with that, we have a younger group of people and we know that they think that they're fine, they don't think it's something that's going to affect. And so as a result of that, we think that testing is more important now, especially as we have the summer break and the start of the school year."

You do not have to show any symptoms to get tested.

Testing is apart of a research study to understand the patterns of asymptomatic people who may test positive.
