KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rep. Joe Runions (D-Grandview) remains hospitalized due to COVID-19, but is recovering, according to a statement released on Sunday.
Runions said that what is most important to him is that medical professionals receive “the support and supplies they need as they work to treat this illness.”
“My doctors are deeply concerned that they could run out of vital supplies, especially the equipment they need to keep themselves safe while caring for patients,” Runions said in the statement. “They also say expanded testing is needed to more quickly identify and treat those who have contracted COVID-19.”
Runions said that he has shared his experiences as a coronavirus patient with Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.
“I also urged him to do all in his power to send the necessary supplies directly to our hospitals as quickly as possible,” Runions said in the statement. “I believe the governor understands the challenges our hospitals are facing and will take the necessary actions.”
Runions is no longer on a ventilator and is breathing normally. He still is hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
