KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The John Knox Village in Lee's Summit confirmed Monday that five new staff members at their Village Care Center location tested positive for COVID-19.

All five are asymptomatic and passed their daily screenings, according to the company. The new cases bring the staff total to nine positive virus cases.

The John Knox Village independent living community has been closed to guests since March 23 and the Village Assisted Living and Village Assisted Living Memory Care closed to visitors on March 12.

One of the asymptomatic health professionals who is an outside employee did see patients at the Village Assisted Living, so now all caregivers will be upgrading masks to N-95, doubling screenings of residents, placing a hold on resident activities and increasing testing of residents in that facility.

The same precautions are taking place at the Village Care Center.
