KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Chamber has offered suggestions for re-opening businesses in the state.
In its “Relief and Recovery Agenda,” the chamber suggested that government agencies create guidelines that can help people return to work, including health metrics and protocols for a safe workplace.
The agenda is broken down into the following categories:
- Employee assistance.
- Economic recovery.
- Regulatory and liability relief.
- Transportation and logistics.
- Health care priorities.
- Government efficiency.
- Workforce and education.
Health metrics include hospitals being able to treat patients who require hospitalization “without resorting to crisis standards of care,” along with the ability to test anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms, according to the chamber’s plan.
Other suggestions include waiving the waiting period for residents to receive unemployment benefits and creating a tax credit to help with “out-of-pocket medical expenses associated with treatment for COVID-19.”
Tax deferments, deadline and telehealth expansions and education programs also are explored in the chamber’s agenda.
