KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The excitement of another possible Super Bowl is coming at the perfect time for Kansas City health care workers.
Some Chiefs fans told 41 Action News the team is making a difficult time a little easier for them.
Truman Medical Center guest services worker Kate Nwofude said the Chiefs are giving Kansas City the hope it needs right now.
"They made everything better for us because this year is like a year of depression, a year everybody has anxiety," Nwofude said.
Across town, Chiefs excitement flows through the halls at Saint Luke's Hospital.
Nurse manager and die-hard Chiefs fan Kevin Turner said it's a fun time to be a Chiefs fan.
"It couldn't be at a better time, or a more challenging time," Turner said. "They bring a lot of fun and a lot of excitement ... this year, more so than ever, it was needed."
Turner said nothing can mask the reality of the pandemic, but the Chiefs have been doing a good job of bringing joy to people in Kansas City.
While it may be a time to celebrate, Turner hopes the community remembers it's also a time to slow the spread of COVID-19.
"As exciting as time is and as much as all of us want to get in big gatherings, it's just not the time to do it," Turner said.
At the University of Kansas Health System, Maceo Jones, who works the front desk, said watching the team is his release valve from the day-to-day stresses of the pandemic.
"Being able to sit down and enjoy that game, even though it stresses you a little bit when it's a little close, you're able to release maybe a whole week of daily stress," Jones said.
