KANSAS CITY, MO — After a year of navigating unforeseen challenges due to the pandemic, a Kansas City business owner is collaborating with others to help draw business and attention to the food truck industry.
Esra England owns KC Cajun said it's been a struggle to survive.
“We’ve lost a lot of business and just having some issues bringing recognition to the Food Truck industry,” he said.
Like other food trucks, about 40 percent of England’s business typically comes from festivals and events like First Friday.
This year many of those events were cancelled.
“We also lost a lot of our daily foot traffic business,” England said. “Now that people are working from home, there’s nowhere near as much foot traffic around the city. That was another big market we lost.”
Now England is collaborating with other food trucks like R&R Paseo Grill to host food truck pop-ups.
“Unlike restaurants, we have to take our truck and drive around and find the business,” said Creed Enna with R&R Paseo Grill. “Anytime you can support a small business, especially do so, because it’s very impactful.”
