KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department will temporarily suspend COVID-19 testing next week to reorganize its strategy after hiring more staff now that CARES Act funding has been approved by the Jackson County Legislature.
The pause will be in effect for one week and testing will resume Aug. 24.
The department has reopened clinics around the city and is training workers on how to adminster COVID-19 tests.
After a more than three-month delay, the county approved $2.8 million in federal emergency funds for the KCMO Health Department earlier this week as part of nearly $19 million being allocated to the city.
