KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Passenger traffic at Kansas City International Airport was down nearly 80 percent last month compared to June 2019, according to a press release by the Kansas City Aviation Department.

Last month, only 240,663 passengers boarded and departed from the airport.

The department also reported the year-to-date totals for passengers making their way in and out the airport is at 2,494,318, a 57 percent decrease from last year.

The decreases come as fewer people are travelling due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, the number of cases in the United States topped four million, according to reports by NBC news.
