KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As nurses, doctors, volunteers and other workers entered the Kansas City VA Medical Center parking lot Wednesday morning, a group of people cheered them on.
The group held signs with encouraging words to recognize the selfless and courageous work these medical employees do every day.
The hospital director said the facility receives about 10 patients per day who tested positive for COVID-19 or are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
On Monday, the VA said it had 33 patients and staff members infected with the virus. One patient died Sunday.
The show of support Wednesday came at the right time. Many employees smiled and honked as they drove into the parking lot and saw the leadership staff outside holding the signs.
