Kansas City's sister city in Taiwan donates masks to Truman Medical Centers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri's sister city in Taiwan presented Truman Medical Centers with a mask donation Thursday morning to help slow the spread of COVID-19 during the pandemic.

Tainan is one of a dozen members of the Sister City Association of Kansas City.

The city donated 2,900 masks and 300 pairs of protective eyewear to their Missouri counterparts.

The Taiwanese Association of Kansas City matched that mask donation for a total of 5,800 masks presented to Truman Medical Centers administrators and staff outside the hospital.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas was also present for the donation and received a personalized "MAYOR Q" baseball jersey from Tainan.

Both cities expressed their eagerness to continue working together during the global pandemic.
