KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The "Stop the Spread" public health campaign is now in full swing in Kansas, which has launched a website to help residents more easily find places to get tested for COVID-19.
Gov. Laura Kelly's administration's announced the "Stop the Spread" campaign last week to raise awareness about COVID-19 prevention measures after her attempt to institute a statewide mask mandate was stymied by a Republican-led legislature earlier this year.
The map of COVID-19 testing locations show Kansans where they can get tested in their area along with other information about testing availability, including the number of open testing slots as well as the average amount of time it takes to receive results and expected wait time.
The map also tells users when the next available appointment is using data automatically updated every minute, allowing visitors to book an appointment through the site.
Kansas health officials have worked to increase the state's testing capacity over the last several months as part of its unified testing strategy.
While the state has been in the red zone for the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths per capita for several months, it's been in the green zone for the number of tests administered.
