KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KC Parks and Recreation announced their phased reopening plan on Friday.

The plan is made up of three phases and begins on Monday.

Phase one will see select fountains turn on, day camps begin at some locations with safety guidelines in place, the fitness facilities at Southeast and Gregg/Klice open by reservation only, dog parks open with social distancing guidelines, indoor events resume with fewer than 10 people, outdoor events resume with fewer than 50 participants and courts for low contact sports reopen.

Phase two will begin after continued monitoring of the city's phase two and Centers for Disease Control recommendations.

Once phase two begins, open gym time and fitness classes at community centers will resume and open skating and lessons will resume at ice rinks.

The third phase will allow permits for large events, adult sports to resume and permanent restrooms to reopen.

KC Parks said pools, athletic courts, shelter houses, ball fields and youth leagues will remain closed.

Those activities will be monitored and any openings will be posted at KCParks.org.
