KANSAS CITY, Mo. — New data from the Kansas City Aviation Department shows projected daily departures from Kansas City International Airport will be down by more than 100 in June 2020 compared to June 2019.
Deputy Director of Aviation Justin Meyer tweeted the numbers with a map Tuesday morning.
With nearly 20 routes shown as suspended on the map, there will be 108 fewer daily departures, which equates to 14,791 fewer daily seats.
The number of nonstop destinations is also projected to fall year-over-year, from 52 in June 2019 to 30 in June 2020.
Many routes’ capacities are projected to be down by more than 50 percent, or between 25 and 50 percent, according to the map.
Only a few are expected to fall by less than 25 percent.
Meyer said in his tweet the department will work with its airline partners to bring capacity numbers back up in “the post-pandemic world.”

The projections come as KCI has seen fewer passengers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
