KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools said Monday that one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

The positive test marks the first case reported among the district’s 2,400 employees

In an e-mail, the district says the employee is being treated at an area hospital and is recovering “well.”

“On behalf of every member of Team KCPS, I want to express our full support for our teammate who is being treated,” Superintendent Mark Bedell said in the e-mail. “We will provide any help needed to ensure our employee’s ongoing recovery.”

The district said the employee did not enter any district buildings while exhibiting symptoms.
