KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The University of Kansas announced top leaders at the school will be taking a 10 percent salary reduction as budget shortfalls due to the COVID-19 pandemic are expected.
KU said it expects its losses to be in the tens of millions of dollars.
State funding for the school is also in question after officials announced last week a projected $635 million shortfall due to loss in tax revenue over the next 15 months.
While KU may receive some funding from the federal CARES Act, it is taking the preliminary measure of salary cuts for top officials.
Those taking the 10 percent pay cut include Men’s Basketball Coach Bill Self, Athletic Director Jeff Long and Head Football Coach Les Miles.
The heads of several schools within the university and other top officials are also receiving a reduced salary.
