KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lawrence Public Schools announced Wednesday it would discontinue in-person services "in order to support the health and safety of our community during the anticipated peak time for COVID-19."

The district's meal service and technology device repairs will stop after April 10.

LPS encouraged staff to stay home for the remainder of the month and follow public health guidelines, including social distancing and use of a cloth facial covering in public.

The district said it will reevaluate the situation and "determine whether it is safe to resume these services in May."
