ROELAND PARK, Kan. — Libraries operated by Johnson County, Kansas, will reopen Monday.
Fourteen branches will balance offering limited services while keeping staff and patrons safe from the novel coronavirus.
The libraries had been closed since mid-March because of stay-at-home orders.
The Mid-Continent Public Library will reopen its branches in Missouri Tuesday.
Services now allowed in the Johnson County libraries include: browsing the bookshelves, using the computer for one hour at a time, signing up for a library card, and using printing and faxing services, to name a few.
Some services will not be available when branches reopen Monday. Meeting and study rooms will remain off-limits. Staff has removed magazines and newspapers from the shelves. All seating in the libraries is taped off.
Library staff wants patrons to wear masks when they enter the building.
