Live Blog: Lansing Correctional Facility reports 2 more COVID-19 cases

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, continues to spread across the world, and in Missouri and Kansas.

41 Action News is keeping track of all closings and cancellations, as well as tracking where positive coronavirus cases are located.

We are also keeping track of which metro jurisdictions are under stay at home orders for the foreseeable future, only allowing for essential business and activities.

Updates on the spread of the virus and how it is affecting the metro can be found below for April 4.

9:15 p.m. | Two more cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the Lansing Correctional Facility. A inmate older than 50 and a staff member older than 20 tested positive, according to a news release. Three facility workers tested positive earlier this week.

4 p.m. | A Lee's Summit R-7 School District employee has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee worked with the district's nutrition services meal program, according to a letter sent to district families on Saturday.

3:40 p.m. | President Donald Trump met Saturday with leaders in the sports industry.

Sprouts Farmers Market announced that it will close on Easter Sunday, April 12.

Kansas Lottery will resume operations but its lobby will continue to be closed to the public. Multi-state and Kansas-only draw games will continue, according to a news release.

2:00 p.m. |The state of Missouri is reporting 2,303 positive COVID-19 cases statewide. 41people have died due to coronavirus in Missouri.

12:30 p.m. | Kansas is now reporting 698 positive COVID-19 cases in the state with 21 deaths. Johnson County and Wyandotte County, Kansas, report more positive casesof COVID-19. Johnson County now has 183 cases. Wyandotte County has 147.

12:00 p.m. | Missouri House Minority Leader Crystal Quade released a statement saying," the order is not at all what was advertised and what health care professionals and Missouri residents had been demanding for weeks.

8:00 a.m. | STEMS, the annual fundraiser for the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, and city art installations, is rescheduling their event to Saturday, August 8. More details on their website.

7:30 a.m. | Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church will be having a Palm Saturday Parade at 10 am. Parishioners can drive-by the church at 11100 College Blvd. in Overland park to receive palm branches. The pastors will meet cars with gloves hands, masked faces and a palm branch for everyone in the car.
