Updates on the spread of the virus and how it is affecting the metro can be found below for Sept. 7.
5 p.m. | Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said in a press briefing that the state would begin reporting on Wednesday the names and locations of active COVID-19 clusters.
Locations with five or more confirmed cases will be named. Private businesses with 20 or more cases "associated with a particular location" also will be released, according to Kelly. -KW

7:15 a.m. | Students at the University of Kansas plan to strike Monday, demanding that the Lawrence campus close due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
The Jayhawker Liberation Front, a KU student organization, posted a notice on Twitter Thursday, stating that when KU closed its campus earlier this year there were no COVID-19 cases. The university has now reported more than 500 cases. -KB
7 a.m. | Job One is an organization in Kansas City that helps adults with disabilities find work. This year, they helped many incoming high school seniors find summer jobs despite the pandemic. -KB
