KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Since two vaccines were approved for emergency use this month, more than 23,000 COVID-19 vaccines have been given to frontline health care workers and nursing home residents and staff in Missouri, according to Gov. Mike Parson’s office.
More than 450,000 Missourians fall under the state’s “Phase 1A” distribution plan. It's expected to take "several weeks" for all of those residents to receive the vaccine, according to Parson's office.
State and local governments and health care partners are administering the vaccines to those people. Currently, 285 facilities in the state are able to give the shots within their facilities.
Parson’s office said another 700-plus facilities should be approved “within the coming days and weeks.”
Most Missourians fall into the state's "Phase 3" for vaccine availability. Residents can find updates on the state’s vaccine distribution plan at MOStopsCOVID.com.
