KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Missouri woman created a new smartphone game she said fills two needs: helping kids learn from home and giving adults something to pass the time.
The game is called Word Addiction.
It’s a lot like Scrabble, but creator Margie Haag said it is more complex.
It’s similar in that you play a series of letters on a board to create words and score points based on your words. Key differences are in Word Addiction, players see all available letters and roll a dice to determine how many pieces they use per turn.
The game is available on solitaire mode or in a way where players can challenge one another remotely.
Bringing people together is why Haag founded Century Game Company to create games.
“Especially now that we’re not going places, we’re not seeing our friends a lot of the times, we can sit in our living rooms and play a game, still play a game with them,” Haag said.
Word Addiction includes a dictionary and other features to help children and adults learn as they play.
The game costs 99 cents and is available in the Apple App and Google Play stores.
Haag said many people in China have been downloading the game, unexpectedly.
