KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nebraska Furniture Mart will close its showrooms as part of its response to coronavirus.

The closures will take effect at 7 p.m. Friday.

This marks only the second time in the company’s 83-year history that it has closed stores, according to a letter from president and COO Tony Boldt.

“Nothing is more important to us than being there for our friends and neighbors,” Bolt said in the letter. “We have always made it a point to see our friends and family through trying times and that’s why we’ve taken the steps necessary to rise to this challenge and make sure people still have access to essential items they need to make this difficult period less stressful.”

Previous measures taken included reducing store hours and encouraging online shopping, contact-free driveway delivery and drive-through pickup.

Customer still can shop online or over the phone by calling (800) 336-9136, ext. 22421.
