In a letter to the district, Superintendent John Allison said in-person instruction will resume as planned on Aug. 13 and 14.

Like other school districts, Allison said Olathe is waiting for additional guidelines from the Kansas State Department Education and local health officials for what exactly the in-person experience will look like.

State educational officials are set to meet on July 10 to outline their recommendations.

Ahead of that meeting, Allison said district officials plan to give enrolling parents the option of selecting in-person or remote learning.

Allison said their remote learning plan will be more robust than the continuous learning plan many districts were forced to quickly adopt in March when schools were closed for the remainder of the year.

“This year will be the most unique school year in history,” Allison wrote. “Together, we’ll make this work.”
