KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Egg prices are going up as demand increases with coronavirus concerns.
According to the USDA, the Midwest wholesale price for large, white, egg shells has increased 55 percent, from 94 cents to $1.46 per dozen.
Officials say the sharp increases in price could continue, as the demand is expected to remain the same. This is offsetting the declining demand from food service.
Because of this, grocers are not seeing a need to feature the product in advertising campaigns.
