KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Social Services said some youth and staff members at its center in Waverly, Missouri, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Social Services did not say how many people tested positive at the Division of Youth Services Waverly Regional Youth Center.

However, the youth who tested positive were quarantined at the center, away from other youth, according to a statement from the department.

Staff members who care for them wear personal protective equipment while doing so, while staff members who tested positive are under quarantine at their homes.

The center is following guidelines from public health officials in Lafayette County and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

A special cleaning crew was called in to “ensure a safe and healthy environment,” and group interaction is limited within the facility.

No outside visitors have been allowed at Waverly Regional Youth Center since March 13.
