KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Help is on the way for those who qualify for a stimulus check — but some may have to wait a little longer.

If you received your last tax refund from the IRS via direct deposit, you can expect to see your stimulus check appear in your bank account. But if you received your last tax refund in the mail, the government says it could take up to three months for your stimulus check to arrive.

Kenzie Bickford, a married stay-at-home mother of two in the Kansas City area, got her check Friday night.

"So we actually got $2,400 for married and $500 for each kid," Bickford told 41 Action News. "We used some of that money to buy bulk groceries. That way I don't have to go out as often, that's been a relief."

She said this first payment is more than enough, but also considers her family lucky.

"For other families that aren't, I don't think it would be enough to get past a few months," she said.

Kathy Morgan and her husband are working from home. She knows how she'll use her stimulus check when it arrives.

"My portion I'm giving away, and he said I'm giving mine away," Morgan said.

She plans to donate her check to someone she knows who lost their job.

"We're not rich; we live comfortably and we don't need it. We're not losing any money," Morgan said. "I highly encourage anyone who can, just a portion of your check, to help others."
