KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A University of Missouri-Kansas City student has tested positive for COVID-19.
The student, according to a letter sent from the UMKC chancellor's office, does not live on campus and is "being treated in isolation, as recommended by the Kansas City Health Department."
“UMKC is working closely with public health officials, who will reach out to people who may have had contact with the individual and provide guidance to anyone found to be at risk of contracting the virus,” the letter stated.
UMKC announced earlier this month that it would be transitioning to online-only classes and canceled spring and summer study abroad programs.
Its campus remains closed.
