KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials with the Kansas City VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, said a patient admitted earlier this week has tested positive for COVID-19.
The veteran, who was admitted on Monday, received the test results on Thursday, the Kansas City VA Medical Center said in a news release.
The veteran remains a patient at the center and is doing well.
Staff are taking precautions and using personal protective gear while caring for the veteran, who is in respiratory isolation.
The Kansas City VA Medical Center says there are seven confirmed COVID-19 cases among patients and staff, though this veteran is the only one receiving treatment at the facility.
All veterans and staff are being screened before entering the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Those at risk for COVID-19 are isolated immediately.
