OLATHE, Kan. — As movie theaters slowly start to open back up, Walmart is getting into the movie business as the chain is transforming its parking lots into drive-in movie theaters.

Walmart in Olathe on N K 7 Highway had its first of two showings on Friday. There was a packed parking lot as "The Wizard of Oz" was shown. "Wonder Woman" is showing on Saturday.

"It's been great to finally and come see a movie. It's a little different since we can't get out of our cars. Great to get outside and enjoy the movie," said Paul Moss, who loaded his family car Friday night.

As Walmart is showing these movies, movie theaters are also getting back into the swing of things.

Cinemark in Merriam opened up on Friday. But, things at the theater look a little different as they are limiting capacity in the auditoriums and staggering showtimes.

"Face masks and gloves are mandatory for all employees and required for all guests. Of course, you can take off your face mask within the auditorium to enjoy your favorite movie going snacks.," said Caitlin Piper, Cinemark Public Relations. "We are disinfecting auditoriums every morning and again between showtimes and we are sanitizing all hard surfaces every 30 minutes as well as providing ample hand sanitizer and seat wipes for guests."

AMC is opening up next Friday.
