KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A group of community members, faculty and alumni are helping Center School District students and parents adjust to distance learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Center Foundation normally provides grants throughout the year for different educational activities, but special circumstances require a special effort.

The group’s focus right now is on gathering materials to put together in packets for distribution to families to help facilitate learning from home.

“Each packet contains two pencils, a pencil sharpener, crayons and a spiral notebook,” Red Bridge Elementary School Library Clerk Jessica Ford said.

A district alumna and parent herself, Ford said she’s proud to see the community rally together and support its neighbors.
