KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting in east Kansas City Wednesday night.

The victims were found at 9:15 p.m. near 38th Street and South Benton Avenue.
Officials said the pair was shot inside a car that had crashed near a house.
The driver, a man in his mid 30's was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female passenger was shot in the leg. She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, according to KCPD.
Witnesses told police they saw a white vehicle speed away from the scene after the shots were fired.
This is Kansas City's 105th homicide of the year. There were 79 at this point in 2016.
