ORIGINAL STORY, Aug. 9 | One person is dead in the fourth fatal shooting to occur Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.
Police responded around 7:30 p.m. to the 2000 block of West Pennway on a reported shooting and located a male victim who they believe is in his late teens or early 20s.
Witnesses saw an argument near a vehicle in the parking lot of the Tony Aguirre Community Center before the shooting occurred, according to a KCPD spokesperson.
The victim was unresponsive, according to police, and officers rendered aid and called medial personnel to the scene.
Police said the driver left after the shooting.
The victim, who initially was in life-threatening condition, died at an area hospital.
Within four hours on Sunday, KCPD officers had responded to shootings at the Kansas City Zoo, as well as the 8100 block of Ward Parkway Plaza.
Police also are investigating a homicide in the 7300 block of Benton Boulevard.
Anyone with information about the West Pennway shooting is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
