2nd shooting in less than 30 minutes Wednesday night leaves 1 dead

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are hopeful witnesses will come forward after a shooting that left a man dead Wednesday night.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 8200 block of Troost Avenue just before 8:30 p.m.

When they got to the scene, they found a man who appeared to have been shot. EMS pronounced him dead on the scene.

Police later identified the man as 21-year-old Kieanthony Rankins of Kansas City.

It was the second fatal shooting in less than 30 minutes Wednesday night. The first happened near 14th and Highland.
