KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Tam Henry Holmes pleaded guilty to robbing four area banks Monday.

The 57-year-old began his robbery spree on Nov. 16, 2016 at the Central Bank of Kansas City,

Court documents state Henry put a note on the bullet-resistant glass and whispered, "700''.

While not immediately clear, the bank employee realized Holmes was a bank robber.

She gave him $540 and Holmes left.

On April 1, he robbed $8,300 from the Bank of the West in Liberty.

He followed that crime with robberies at the Greater Kansas City Public Safety Credit Union and a First Federal Bank of Kansas City.

Holmes got away with more than $16,000 in those robberies.

A prison sentence as long as 80 years without parole could be Holmes's fate.

No sentencing date has been set.
