Police reported on the active shooter around 12:50 p.m. Within minutes, officers arrived at the scene and entered the store. Once in the store they discovered a male and female victim. Both individuals were declared deceased by KCFD at the scene.
Police say it appears to have been a disturbance between these two individuals, and they are not looking for a suspect.
Jeremiah Poppelwell was shopping at 7th Heaven with a friend when a man walked in. A store employee told him that he should not be there, but the man continued downstairs. Seconds later, Poppelwell heard gunfire.
"There was a scream. A friend of mine said let's go see what's going on, but as soon as we started to walk down that way to make sure there wasn't a lady being slapped around or anything, shots were fired and everybody started running out of the building," said Poppelwell.
Family members who stood near the crime scene feared that their loved one was the victim.
Police have not identified the victim or the gunman.
Other store patrons were inside during the shooting, but none were physically injured.
