KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Customers were evacuated from the Ward Parkway Center in Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday night as police investigated a shots fired incident.

Ofc. Donna Drake, a spokesperson for KCPD, said no one was injured in the incident.

Police took more than one person of interest in custody, but Drake couldn't immediately say how many.

Police began to receiving multiple reports of a disturbance or shots fired incident at the shopping center at around 6:45 p.m.

Officers from the Prairie Village, Leawood, Independence and Lee's Summit police departments responded to the scene.

The Missouri Highway Patrol and agents from the Federal Bureau Investigation also assisted.

Authorities went inside of shopping center to secure the scene, and found property damage, but Drake couldn't immediately say where.

Drake said the entire Ward Parkway Center was shut down for the night after the incident.
