Death of person found in burned truck ruled a homicide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police said Monday the death of a person found in a burned vehicle Friday has been ruled a homicide.

The body was found inside a burned pickup truck near East 10th Street and Oakley Avenue.

Kansas City, Missouri, firefighters were called to extinguish the flames around 6:15 a.m. Friday, though the body wasn't discovered until 2:15 p.m. that day.

KCPD was then called to the scene, where five shell casings were visible on the street near the truck.

Police have not released the victim's cause of death.

KCPD said investigators are still trying to identify the person.
