KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police continue to investigate the fatal stabbing of a KCK mother.
On Friday, family members said Megan Hernandez, 32, is the woman who was brutally killed Thursday afternoon at the house where she grew up.
Her father, Nick Overton, showed up at the scene after receiving a call from his aunt.
“You kind of want to fall apart. You’re at work, you’re in a rush. Now you’re panicking. You want to get there to see if you can do to make things right, try to save things,” Overton told 41 Action News over the phone.
Overton said his daughter lived at the house with her three young boys who were not home at the time of her death.
“We were trying to get her situated in a lot of good ways as far as that goes. There’s no reason in my mind at all why anyone would do this to anybody as far as anything goes,” Overton said.
Hernandez was discovered on the porch of her South Mill Street house with a number of stab wounds by a relative who called for help.
“What makes anybody feel the right to think that they can just take an individual like that?” Overton asked.
He is now seeking justice.
“I believe in letting them do their job to solve this and hopefully do the best that they can,” Overton said.
Detectives are staying tight-lipped about the investigation and haven’t said whether or not they have a suspect.
If you know anything about this homicide call KCK police or the TIPS Hotline (816) 474-TIPS (8477).
