KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man is facing robbery and assault charges after police say he attacked a KCATA bus driver.

Brandon McDaniel is accused of assaulting and robbing the driver back in March. According to court documents, the KCATA bus driver says he picked up another man, who asked to be dropped off in the area of U.S. 40 highway.

The driver said he told the man the only drop-off he could make in that area was the Walmart on 40 highway. According to court documents, the driver claimed the man started sounding the alarm to be dropped off before reaching the Walmart location. The unknown man eventually got off the bus, with no problem.

A few minutes later, things heat up.

According to court documents, McDaniel got on the bus and started fighting and asked the driver why he would not allow his friend to get off the bus earlier. The driver claims McDaniel stole his phone from his hand and then started hitting him in the chest.

As the fight continued, McDaniel allegedly pulled out a gun and tried to strike him in the face. After getting arrested, McDaniel told police he was extremely intoxicated. He says the unknown man came up to him and said he was having issues with the bus driver.
