UPDATE, Friday, Aug. 19 | Police have identified the victim as Leslie Taylor, 57.

The subject of interest remains in custody. KCPD reports detectives will present the case to the prosecutor's office for review and consideration of applicable charges.

ORIGINAL STORY | Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating a shooting that killed a man Thursday night. A subject of interest is in custody in relation to the case.

The shooting happened at around 6:55 p.m. in the 5200 block of Brooklyn Avenue.

When responding officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
