UPDATE, 2:25 p.m. | KCPD identified the victim in this case as a 36-year-old Shawndele L. Gray.
ORIGINAL STORY, Aug. 26|Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a fatal shooting at southbound U.S. 71 at 75th Street.
Police said just before 12:15 a.m. they found a vehicle on fire on the on-ramp from 75th Street.
They then found a man with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle.
He died at the hospital.
Detectives are talking with witnesses trying to find out what led up to the shooting.
