Kansas City police end standoff that started after shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City, Missouri, responded to standoff in connection to a shooting on Monday afternoon.

Officers initially responded to a medical unknown nature call near Askew Avenue and east 75th Street. No victim was located.

Police were later dispatched to a shooting call near east 93rd Street and Indiana Avenue.

There, they located a man suffering from gun shot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Police believed the shooter was barricaded in an apartment unit near where the shooting occurred.

Officers later entered the apartment hours later and did not find anyone inside. The standoff was ended.
