KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, is on track to break a record for homicides, and one mom is urging people to report what they know to the TIPS Hotline.

Aishah Coppage’s son Montell and nephew Jayden were murdered Aug. 13, 2016, and no one has been caught for the crime.

“I’m angry because there are two innocent kids dead because of whatever reason that has nothing to do with them. I’m angry because the city, people in the city know who did it and refuse to speak up on behalf of kids,” Coppage said.

Coppage hopes a tip could find who killed the 8 and 9-year-old boys.

As homicides increase in 2020, the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers is also seeing an uptick in tip calls.

“We have gotten some good community support. So far this year, actually five tips through crime stoppers have led to solving homicides in Kansas City, Missouri,” Boehm explained.

Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers offers up to $25,000 in rewards for anonymous homicide tips that lead to an arrest.
