KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Kansas, mail carrier was indicted in federal court on Tuesday for allegedly stealing mail and depositing other people's checks into his own bank account.
Lane Snider, 21, a U.S. Postal Service carrier, was charged with one count of stealing mail and 12 counts of bank fraud in an indictment handed down by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Missouri.
Snider worked as a mail carrier for less than two months between June and August. He allegedly opened mail addressed to customers on his route and removed checks, depositing them into his own bank account, according to the indictment.
Snider allegedly deposited 12 stolen checks, which ranged in amount from $25 to $500, according to the indictment.
