KCK man faces attempted capital murder charge in shooting of KCKPD officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 33-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man faces an attempted capital murder charge in connection to an incident that resulted in a KCKPD officer being shot.

Jesse James Flaugher currently is being held on a $1 million bond following the Dec. 15 shooting in which the officer, who has not been named, was shot in the arm.

The shooting occurred at South 39th Street and County Line Road, near the Argentine neighborhood in KCK. A KCKPD spokesperson previously said that the officer was pursuing a vehicle sought in connection to a hit-and-run incident prior to the shooting.

Flaugher also has been charged in Johnson County District Court with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He is in custody in a separate jurisdiction, according to a news release. An appearance date has not yet been set.
