KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 22-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man was killed in a shooting over the weekend in Warrensburg, police said.
Marcus Brown Jr. was taken to an area hospital after the shooting and pronounced dead early Sunday morning.
Two men told officers they attended a party with Brown on West Pine Street in Warrensburg. When they left the party, several men followed them to a parking lot.
A fight ensued, and at some point, Brown was shot by one of the men, police said.
The two men who were with Brown at the party took him to the hospital, and the others fled the area on foot after the shooting, police said.
The Rural Major Case Squad, which includes investigators from seven area counties and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, will investigate the shooting. The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department also will assist in the investigation.
