KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police are asking for the public's assistance identifying the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Nov. 29, 2019.

KCPD released video of a small, dark-colored compact car on Wednesday.

KCPD said the vehicle would have sustained heavy damage in the crash, which happened at Independence Avenue and Elmwood Avenue.

In November, KCPD told 41 Action News the car was westbound on Independence Avenue when it struck and killed 65-yer-old Gary L. Davis of KCMO.

The driver fled the scene before officers arrived. A bystander ran to a nearby Kansas City Fire Department station for help.

Davis was taken to a hospital, but died from their injuries a short time later.

KCPD asks anyone with information to call the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
